Every porn star in this and other countries know that the ADULT VIDEO NEWS (AVN) AWARDS each January is the SHOW to be in or the list of nominations where you would like to see your name. BUT...the tiny little GAY VIDEO GUIDE AWARDS that happens in January seem to get all the attention because the AVN show is so straight and so homophobic looking the gay community doesn't take it seriously. Once all the nominees and producers and video retailers arrive in Las Vegas each year the gay nominees and producers are lost in the shuffle and stuck in a little booth at the Sahara Hotel. Well one limp wrist in Vegas anywhere and you have a cop following you. So, we look at the GAY VIDEO GUIDE AWARDS as the salvation. The guys get all done up in tuxedos and have a drag queen or two on their arms and they look, act, and feel special. The show will be at the PALACE on VINE in Hollywood and our Sister Magazine...STARS, will have all the nominations in the next issue. When you don't get nominated you say it's fixed. When you get nominated and you don't win you say it sucks or it's rigged. That will never change. It happens every year at the EMMYS and the OSCARS. But once again we see the lineup and it looks like most porn stars will be there once again in the same room. They smile at each other and they all wish they looked like ADAM HART but they don't. I was accused a month ago of having a crush on Adam Hart and I giggled. I also have a crush on others who will be there, like TY FOX, KURT STEFANO, BO GARRETT and his tattoos, MARCELO REEVES, EDUARDO, and JOHN ROSS but CHIP DANIELS may not anyone get near him.
CHI CHI LA RUE will be there in drag but we have all come to know her and to love her because if you are going to be a good old queen you have to smile at those in drag and bite your tongue because there is a part of you that wishes you were young enough to wear make-up. JIM STEELE from VIVIDMAN will host with CHI CHI and that should make for an interesting evening no matter what. The thing is that you want a nomination because they are dished and talked about for months. Once the awards are over no one talks about them any more because they are too worried about AVN's awards, even if they say they could care less. Here we have men who suck cock for money in front of a camera and get their asses plowed for money by some of the biggest cocks in the business and they get an award for it. Along with the money they got for doing it in the first place. Promotion? Sure. There would be no awards so to speak on television for Oscar and Emmy if it wasn't promotion and the selling of ads makes it all possible. The show in Los Angeles at the Palace will have an admission price and the program will contain bought and paid for ads by the video companies. Any nominee will be admitted free but the Video Companies will buy a whole table and their biggest stars will be at the table with their producers. I always get as many press passes as I want because I do qualify as an editor. Will I go to the show? I will go so I can report on it to you who are stuck in a place like New Waterford, Nova Scotia or Allendale, South Carolina and you will not get to be there. When out of towners come to Hollywood they manage to see the studio tours. What a business I could have if I conducted tours of the porn studios and let them watch a porn movie being made. Mmmmmm!
