This being the opening month Of the new year, we thought it appropriate to share our feelings about what went out the door in 1974 and what stands on the threshold of 1975.

William Fulbright, Salvador Allende, Willy Brandt, Willie Mays, Mama Cass, Miss Kitty, Georges Pompidou, Chet Huntley, the Gatsby Look, 450-cubic-inch engines, The String, Juan Peron, most of the shows you're watching on TV, Haile Selassie, the quarter beer, Timothy Leary, President Ted Kennedy, Duke Ellington, Pélé, long hair for men, and the stock market.
We'd like to welcome all of you granted amnesty, and send New Year's greetings to those of you who will stay in the havens you have found. We say hello to Godfather II, Moe Bandy, thumbnail-size calculators, gorgeous legs, Linda Lovelace, Scoop Jackson, Walter Mondale, unisex Little League, the BQU— the latest hallucinogen—Asian-Americans, premature Bicentennial kitsch, Moses Malone, green pasta, the VD cocktail, sheikh chic, the missionary position, Bi-Lib, Steve Martin, Ingrid Bergman, fur-lined condoms, Taj Mahal, Rummy Rumsfeld, and Emerson Fittipaldi.
We would like to announce that Linda Lovelace, a fearless angel whose charms have swallowed up the wisest and happiest of men, will join our staff next month. Linda will apply her talents to your problems in a special advice column, so get your letters in the mail to her today.
