EDITORIAL NOTE
Don't you wish you had wings? I know I do along with almost everybody I know. Just imagine how free you would feel soaring through the atmosphere like Lestat or Armand or Edward and Bella? They're all vampires, sure, and they don't need wings. Realistically, you'd probably just fly to work or to the local bar or to your tattooer or to Hawaii, but it would still be loads of fun.
Peter Pan doesn't need wings to fly, and he taught Wendy and her brothers how. Tinkerbell has tiny featherless fairy wings that she uses to get in to all sorts of mischief. John Travolta's fallen angel in the movie Michael had awesome wings, gigantic. They were kind of cumbersome, though, hard to hide on the dance floor.
There are some excellent examples of tattooed wings in one of this issue's theme halls. Tespecially like Shawna Samboceti's, done by John Saletra, the heart pierced by daggers in the center of the delicately etched feathers. Jessica Hutto's wings with roses, done by The Grime, are gorgeous. Rea Cormick's rainbow of color, done by Anna Paige, wraps around her upper torso and continues down her thighs It looks like these women could take flight any minute, but, alas, they can't. Neither can you. Oh well. Face it, you'd just end up with messed up hair and bugs in your teeth. Maybe you should look into Captain Kirk and Spock's method of transport.
