Motorsport was published by Joseph Hardie and Raymond Kelly at H-K Publications at 1140 East West Highway, Silver Springs, Maryland. Content was focused on European sport cars, antique automobiles from the United States, U.S. domestic cars, and stock car racing. Hot rod content seemed to be minimal, but Motorsport did have a classic hot rod cover with the April, 1951 issue.

The magazine was later re-titled to Auto Craftsman in December, 1956.

As a re-titling of Motorsport magazine, Auto Craftsman was an East Coast, large format magazine published every other month from December, 1956 through June, 1958. The publishers were Joseph Hardie and Raymond Kelly as H-K Publications at 1250 Camden Ave SW, Canton, Ohio. The first issue is whole number 52 and matches numbering from its predecessor. Although geared to the automotive enthusiast who wanted to upgrade performance, drag racing was also featured. Only 10 issues have been found.

At some point, How to Soup-Up Your Car was folded into this magazine.
