EDITORIAL NOTE
Back we are again with a bumper size issue, the price slightly raised but the magazine much thicker to ensure that our readers as usual get more than their money's worth.
One of your favourite writers appears to be the prolific G. L. Simons, and in this issue he again picks the unusual to present us with a sometimes funny. frequently startling, exposé of the true sexual nature of goblins, gremlins and fairies.
This month's fiction is by one of our foremost writers, Colin Maclnnes. Author of the now famous 'London' novels (City of Spades, Absolute Beginners, Mr Love and Justice) and many others, Mr Maclnnes has been called, by no less than Bernard Levin, "one of the most penetrating, sensible, balanced, yet passionate observers of England," and with his Men Only debut he certainly proves that his pen hasn't lost any ink. A caustic, witty and highly contemporary story about a very unusual threesome.
Subject of our interview is Kenneth Tynan, the highly controversial theatre critic and writer. Tynan also produced Roman Polanski's Macbeth, devised Oh Calcutta! and was Literary Manager of the National Theatre during the praised and abused reign of Sir Laurence Olivier. A man for whom the easiest road has been one road to avoid, he is never far away from the intellectual fray and is flamboyant in his method of attack. The interviewer is Mike Bygrave, one of the more regular contributors to Men Only and himself the author of a well-received novel, About Time.
Another two popular regulars are the roving Jack Izard and Karl Steiner. The former moves fearlessly into the devious world of escort agencies, while the latter, with his usual gift for making heavy material light, explains just why you dream what you dream about - particularly when those dreams are erotic!
Brian Murphy used to write frequently for us, but for the past year has been working in Brussels. However. he did manage to spare us some time for a special feature on Prohibition Chicago. Every bit as colourful and exciting as The Godfather, the finished product is guaranteed to keep you wide awake.
Fiona, exhausted from her hectic activities in Monaco, decided to rest up in Plymouth. It could have been a mistake because her supercharged presence was not to be ignored when she got there. Fiona might well be the most familiar face in Men Only, but we don't lack for other faces and figures. Eugene Finkei gives you Beth, Fred Enke offers Jonquil and Michel Moreau keeps up the standard with the lovely Lucille. As if this weren't enough, our magnificent pictorial on nudes in Crete has been photographed and written by Lennart Osbeck. So good is this set that you could tear out the pages, frame them and hang them up on your wall - though you'd ruin a good magazine! Then, of course, if you still aren't satisfied, we have Bonnie, photographed by Thom Jackson - not to mention Ann Summers, the popular Modus Operandi and that continuing readers' favourite, Communication.
