EDITORIAL NOTE
Ever since Paul Raymond bought this magazine just over three years ago we have
enjoyed meteoric success - a fact I can never be accused of not reminding you
of - but today I can report that our worldwide popularity has reached heights
that are astounding even by our standards.
Australia. for instance, is now going through a similar Men Only mania that this
country experienced in 1971, with sales rocketing by tens of thousands every month.
The only other magazine to have anything like that kind of impact, is our brother
publication Club International, which, of course, suits us fine. In Canada, it's
a similar story, with our two journals outselling magazines which are especially
geared to the Canadian market, while the Italian edition of Men Only is clearly
topping the market. France is also getting the habit.
We believe that the reason for this success revolves around two factors: quality
and balance. Even our closest rivals will admit that our photography is the best
in the business, that our printing has set new standards for the magazine industry
and that our design and layout is lauded by just about every publishing house
in the trade. Our unique balance evolves from a blend of literary heavyweights
and sparkling characters like Fiona Richmond, Ann Summers and Jack Izard, plus
the highly knowledgeable and frank sexologist, Karl Steiner.
If you think I've really overdone the drum-beating this time, I'm confident that
a perusal of this edition will endorse everything I say. Pictorially, for instance,
it's dominated by the magnificent sequence shot entirely on location in Lanzarote
by Amnon Bar-Tur. To produce pictures like these, the type we've become famous
for throughout the world, Amnon spent over three weeks in the Canaries shooting
hundreds upon hundreds of rolls of film to reach the perfection that he, we -
and, I'm certain, you - are looking for.
Our feature content boasts the impressive line-up of Cohn Wilson, G. F. Newman.
and Peter Sykes, presenting a penetrating interview with Pamela Green. The aforementioned
Izard, Fiona, Steiner and Ann Summers are also in evidence to complete another
superb issue. I hope you agree.
Tony Power.
