Dear Readers:
As I'm sure you noticed when you bought this copy of Inches, the cover price has been increased. The extra dollar is unfortunately necessary for us to keep bringing you the same high-quality magazine you've grown accustomed to. Here's why:
You're probably aware that the price of all paper products, such as tissues and paper towels has gone up all across the country. These annoying price hikes are due to the more than 70% increase in the cost of paper. All publishers and companies that make their products from paper are faced with this unbelievable increase in overhead. As you can imagine, none of us are happy about this.
And what's worse, the paper mills have announced that they plan to raise the price of paper even more in the coming months. Add to this the skyrocketing prices of inks, shipping and especially postage and you get the impression that someone is out to kill the publishing business.
We did not to reduce the size of the magazine or increase the number of advertising pages, as some of our competitors have opted to do. Inches has never been one of those magazines with 50 pages of advertisements. So, in order for us to give you, our loyal readers, a full-size, complete entertainment package printed on top-quality paper, we forced to make this decision. If and when the paper mills decrease the outrageously inflated price of paper, I promise that we pass this savings on to you immediately, and reduce the cover price of Inches. (At the current time, there will be no increase in subscription rates.)
I sincerely hope that you will understand the dilemma the publishing industry is faced with today. I apologize for this increase, but it appears to be the only way to continue without destroying Inches altogether.
