THE SLEUTHSAYER
After losing his virginity on the classic sitcom Soap, a young Billy Crystal exclaimed: "I'm so excited... It's like discovering America, or a third arm or something ... This is the greatest thing that ever happened to me. I should have started this ten years ago.. .1 mean, the hell with television!"
Yours truly felt similarly after discovering Sleuthdom, but disagrees that television deserves eternal damnation. In fact, the most eternal aspect of the boob tube seems to be its perpetual proclivity for providing pictorial pulchritude! Hell, this is our fourth "Tele•Visions" issue, and seventh edition overall devoted exclusively to the wonders of the small screen. Guess the Devil made us do it...
This also represents the 25th issue since our immaculate inception in '85'—the Silver Anniversary Sleuth—and we couldn't have hit the quarter-century mark without the loyal support and encouragement of our devoted readers. These buds are for you .
"Nudity? Nudity? What's wrong with nudity," the late star of Chico and the Man once remarked. "Beneath our clothes we all stand naked." Who are we to argue with such a Prime of a fedow. . and so we stand Freddie, willing and able to prove his point with four dozen of our most tempting "tele•visions." As our fortieth entrant, Marie-France Pisier {page 78} said in explaining why her Scruples precluded posing for a Playboy pictorial: "On the screen they see you only for a second and then the image is gone. But if your picture is in a magazine they can stare at it for a long time and think their thoughts, and I don't like this." Now you're getting the picture...
As usual, mambos Mae West put it best: "It is better to be looked over than overlooked'=and we trust we haven't overlooked any of your favorites in this compendium of network nudes. Particularly since this marks our flagship 25th Anniversary issue, we've endeavored to leave no stern untoned
