Ptolemy II Philadelphus and his World
Randall inexplicably uses the less Anglicized versions of Ancient Greek names (primarily substituting "k" for "c" as in Cylon/Kylon and Megacles/Megakles) and blurs the facts while trying to present a knowable picture of ancient Athens suitable for the targetted age group. Randall is writing more for children than the other authors in the series, but in doing so he has managed to make the material less intelligible (which I am sure was not the goal). Still decent, but not up to par with the the others books in the series I have read (Cleisthenes, Leonidas, and Themistocles).
