The book is somewhat helpful but also contradicts its own statements in many areas of helping someone figure out their rights in the workplace. One example is > ' Don't take confidential papers. While it's true that you are in the best position to gather evidence while you are still working, be wary of what you take in hand. Confidential information, such as evidence of the company's finances and other documents that the employer has clearly indicated should not be disclosed, are off limits. If you take these kinds of documents out of the workplace, that may actually become a legal ground for the company to fire you, or for a court to limit or deny your remedies for wrongful treatment you suffered while on the job.'

Without evidence there is no way to prove a case in a court hearing of wrongdoings. Whistleblowers would not have been able to bring corporations to justice if they didn't gather enough evidence which is at times considered confidential. Claims of fraud and misconduct by companies like Pfizer, Northrop Grumman, GlaxoSmithKline, Sherron Watkins, the former Enron accountant , General Electric- Madoff whistleblower Harry Markopolos and hundreds more corporations reported for fraud and misconduct.

Every corporation big or small has ways to retaliate against any employee if they become aware that another employee helped in a wrongful treatment case. That's why most employees don't come forward to help - they are also in fear of retaliation and losing their job.

The book states > 'You may be able to persuade them to help you by reassuring them that the same law that prohibits the initial wrongful treatment also specifically prohibits the company or union from retaliating against anyone who helps in an investigation of your claim.'

This book touches base on a few areas of interest for your rights in the workplace but is highly lacking in many areas in the fundamental information needed to hire an attorney and evidence that is necessary to prove a case as in a class action lawsuit.

I personally did not find the book helpful. There is better and more helpful information online. I returned the book.
