Based on the author's own experiences with the regiment, To War With The Black Watch is a sharp, witty and moving insight into Scots-Italian relations in the latter part of the Second World War.
Gian Gaspare Napolotano was born in Palermo in 1907. In the 1920s and 1930s he was a well-known international journalist for Corriere della Serra. After 1943, Napolitano began his work as a liaison officer with the regiment. In the post-war years he published a number of successful novels and was a film director and scriptwriter. He died in 1966 in Rome.
