Highway 99: A Literary Journey Through California's Great Central Valley
This collection was not one of my favorites. I appreciated the variety of topics, but honestly there wasn't a lot of variety in writing style and several of the pieces fell a bit flat for me. Even some of the pieces by some of my favorite authors. That being said, I really enjoyed pieces by some of the authors I had never read yet, like Ernesto Galarza, Lawson Fusao Inada, Greg Pape, and Lillian Vallee. I also found the selection on "Prison Valley" by Bill Barich very interesting.
