Three dreary plays dealing with themes of dark secrets, hidden pasts and the sea. i enjoyed these a lot more than i initially thought i would, having known nothing of ibsen before hand really. the translator notes they are incredibly difficult to translate from the scando (not a surprise) so some stuff is lost, but i would certainly like to see a subtitled production of them sometime - the notes provide for the first time adaptations were performed either on the BBC or irl with these particular translations. ibsen looks pretty prolific so i'll have to dig more into his work at some later point
