Lost in the Victory: Reflections of American War Orphans of World War II Book

We read this for book club and it provided for a great discussion. It's very informative and there were a few really funny parts as well. Eske provides an honest behind-the-scenes look into one of our favorite characters: the orphan. Through difficult times and beautiful moments, he gives his perspective of growing up with four internationally adopted siblings who didn't all come to the US in the healthiest shape. Adoption doesn't seem to receive the same attention as many other causes in today's society, yet it affects every nation's children and families in different ways. I know I never thought much about it until reading the book, but am glad I now feel a bit more informed about its current status and history that led to where it stands today. It's a great book that warms your heart, makes you tear up, gives you a few laughs, teaches you a thing or two, and challenges you to think about the complex issues -both personal and political- surrounding global adoption.
