Come to Africa and Save Your Marriage: And Other Stories Book

So far I'm halfway through this excellent book of short stories. It's bleak, dirty, beautiful, and i think totally spot-on in its depictions of Americans ex-pat life in Africa. I love reading stories about this sort of search for identity against the backdrop of "other." VS Naipaul puts it best when he writes, "The young American lawyer didn't try to define the glamour of the life. But I thought it would be something like this: being in Africa, being a non-African among Africans. Discomfort and danger would add to the sense of the self, the daily sense of personal drama, which a man living safely at home might never know." Obviously I have experienced this attempt when I was in Ghana, but now I prefer to read about other people struggling to find themselves from the comfort of my little house and state job.
