Practical Steps to the Research Process for Elementary School Book

"Using Pop Culture to Teach Information Literacy: Methods to Engage a New Generation" by Linda D. Behen is a great book for any school librarian or public librarian looking for ways to teach students about information literacy and connect with them on a personal level. Behen includes tips on how to find the best pop culture information from teens and shows exactly how to inact them in the information literacy program. She even tells how to best create a school-wide information literacy model, including an example Graded Course of Study Approval. The list of what students need to know in Chapter 7 is a great formula for librarians wanting to know exactly what 21st century skills students need to succeed in school, work, and life. I recommend this book! While other books I have recently read that were published in or around 2006 feel dated already, it's not the case with this publication of Behen's. Pop culture's specific celebrities and favorite shows may change, but the actual template and model that Behen provides in this book will help librarians that serve elementary and high school students for a long time to come!
