Twenty-Nine Years in the West Indies and Central Africa
I picked up this book at my local library before a trip to Cuba and with the intent that I would go to Havana for a 1 day tour. So much influences and history events of Havana have been well documented in this work. And also the layers of social life. The only thing I was struggling with is that the book demanded concentration as it is not in chronological order but more divided in subjects and important figures come back in several ones. Maybe a reference at the end of the book with a list of great events would have been beneficial to keep me from getting lost. Anyway, I still appreciated the large perspective that the book offered.
