For more than 30 years George Williams' monumental The Radical Reformation has been an essential reference work for historians of early modern Europe, narrating in rich, interpretative detail the interconnected stories of radical groups operating at the margins of the mainline Reformation. In its scopespanning all of Europe from Spain to Poland, from Denmark to Italyand its erudition, The Radical Reformation is without peer. Now in paperback format, Williams' magnum opus should be considered for any college or university-level course on the Reformation.
This massive and comprehensive monograph was originally published in 1962 by Westminster Press, Philadelphia. The second and much amplified edition, titled La Reforma Radical, was published in Mexico in 1983 (Fondo de Cultura Economica). The present edition is not only revised but expanded by about 300 pages. Williams has reviewed all of the work done in the field since the first edition and this is reflected both in his text and in the extensive 69-page bibliography. Indexed by source documents; confessions of faith; councils, colloquies, synods, and debates; scripture; and subject. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
