This book gave me a very good understanding of my Glengarry McDonalds. I can visualize the family and community groups traveling across the ocean; leaving Scotland behind but bringing with them their family, friends and culture to settle together in Upper Canada. I recognize the Gaelic Highlander parts of their culture that continue in their descendants more than 200 years later. The songs, story telling, grit, rebellious nature and joyful family gatherings echo through us all to this day.
