Sharks are fascinating creatures, yet this book fails to capture the excitement. Readers are inundated with too many facts. A number of them are inaccurate, out-of-date or poorly explained, making the book unusable for homework. Sadly, scientists' concerns about wild shark feeding and "swim-with" programs are not mentioned. In light of that concern, photographs of people touching and swimming with sharks are inappropriate. The rest of the photographs are beautiful and sometimes interestingly used. Unfortunately, they are not enough to save this book from the jaws of mediocrity.
