Creatures Yesterday and Today
Personal reaction - I really liked the way the author has laid out information chronologically in reverse. I was especially intrigued by the connections between prehistoric and modern creatures that the author presents. This book contains a lot of interesting text that is quite informative, while also being enjoyable.

Purpose(s)/Use in the classroom-

• Read aloud to make a curricular connection: This would be a good choice as a read aloud during science lessons on prehistoric animals and their modern-day descendants or prehistoric times in general. This book may also serve as a tool to practice comparing and contrasting text.


• Independent reading- I think children who are specifically interested in dinosaurs would find this book especially intriguing as it provides information on many prehistoric creatures. Students are visually learners will especially benefit from the books inclusion of timelines and charts when reading independently.
