Disney's The Jungle Book got it wrong, folks. There's no male Sargent bossing the troop around. It's all up to Grandma. And she doesn't mess around!
This book deepened my love for elephants by teaching me more about the strength of the matriarchal family structure. With a combination of two different texts (differentiated by font) there's both a narrative voice and an informational one. It was a little confusing to read both and would advise, if reading aloud, to go through the text once reading the main text (larger font) and follow up with facts and details afterward. Still would be a very enjoyable read aloud!
