Although the authors repeatedly said that RA begins in the preschool-era, there were no actual chapters with solid advice on how to counter the 4 year old version of RA. I hear all sorts of stories about my kid and her classmates using very RA-like words at preschool, and my current advice to her just seems to ring hollow (let alone actually curb any of the activities I'm hearing about). Really, at 4 I'm hearing that my daughter has to wear a dress to school or a particular couple of girls won't play with her (this is also grounds for not being invited to one's birthday party, apparently). In a more coed move, a set of preschoolers takes over the homeliving area and bars another "friend" from coming in. In yet another example, a little boy runs up to my kid on drop off and says that " I'm not playing with you today because I don't like you. You're not my friend". I could go on. I'm sure my little angel is doing this stuff to other kids, too. I'm talking with my kid at home, but really does the reasoning at home - after the fact - really do any good? I guess I can just hope that the preschool teachers are knowledgeable on this front -- before the little darlings actually call attention to themselves by getting physically aggressive -- or I'm on my own until my girl hits about 10, then a copy of the book might come in handy to undo all the stuff that's been going on for years and years.
