Good for an overview of Brooklyn history and neighborhood boundaries, but this book lost me when it stated that Gerritsen Beach had "the allure of a quaint New England fishing town." Granted, a lot of the info presented is dated by now (Oct 2013), but I have lived in Brooklyn my whole life and Gerritsen Beach has never been anything like a New England fishing town. I noticed a few examples earlier on in the book of stated perceptions of neighborhoods that didn't really line up with what I remember of them, but that one just took the cake.
