Located on Long Island's south shore, the village developed as a summer resort, with families, celebrities, and several grand hotels. Eventually many summer visitors stayed and became residents.

I attended the New Orleans World's Fair many times when it was here in the city although I don't remember many of the exhibits that is talked about in this book. It was interesting to read about how it came about and to see the photos. It was a good book and I do love how the warehouse district came about after the fair was taken down. I wish there was more here in New Orleans from the when the fair was here.
