Hitler's Black Victims: The Historical Experience of Afro-Germans, European Blacks, Africans and African Americans in the Nazi Era
Good general summary of research, needs editing. It covers a good deal of aspects concerning Afro-Germans and Nazi racial policies/attitudes/propaganda. I'd read much of it before and was hoping this would both be more comprehensive and in-depth. However, I was a bit surprised to see glaring errors in editing, spelling and an abysmal lack of knowledge of the German language (making up words/spelling - "Volkscheun" for "Voelkerschau" - for example). Also shocked to see the heavy reliance on sources like popular news articles, anecdotes and the breadth given to some tangentially related and salacious material, while other important aspects received short shrift or ended up repeatedly popping up in subsequent chapters after its introduction. What it does well is provide a collection and summary of the research that is out there, albeit in a general and sloppy academic veneer.
