THE NEWS of Jayne Mansfield's death reached this office while we were in the midst of preparing the current issue, and it goes without saying what a shock that news was. Jayne has always been one of our favorite figure models which you can verify by checking the hundreds of her photos we ran over the years. At the risk of sounding corny, we'd like to suggest that Jayne's real beauty was something above and beyond her incredible charms. Jayne was a magnificently-endowed sex queen who made herself available for worship more generously and more often than any other sex symbol in history. She momentarily brightened the lives of millions of sexually-frustrated men throughout the world with her bubbly smile as well as her abundant cleavage. And, whether you happen to approve of semi-nude posing or not, no one can deny that Jayne did everything in her power to be the best in her chosen field. We always enjoyed and respected her for that and concede that the world isn't quite as bright a place without Jayne in it.
