Wooden Chairs for the Home Book

This title presents a wide range of useful, practical and attractive chairs, from the pleasing simplicity of the early joint stool to the sophistication of the Chippendale-style chair, with many other examples to inspire individuality and provide comfort in every room of the house.

During daily use, chairs are placed under a great deal of stress, so careful design and quality construction are important. Hontoir (Pine Furniture Making) offers woodworkers a collection of 12 attractive chairs in a variety of styles ranging from formal to whimsical, including a high chair, a director's chair, a Jacobean-style stool, a folding deck chair with canopy, and a reproduction Chippendale chair. Especially cute is an eight-legged spider chair. The clear, well-written instructions are complemented by a wealth of colorful photos and drawings; many of these projects are within the abilities of the average woodworker. Originally published in Britain, the book has the usual differences in terminology, but this should not confuse North American readers.
