The Dead That Walk: Flesh-Eating Stories
I got this book years ago and waited years before I read it. Then I shelved it and forgot I had read it so I read it again recently. I guess the fact that it's so forgettable says something about the short stories inside but upon re-reading I found that quite a few of them were good--not Stephen King Good or Neil Gaiman good (although I guess some of them are because both Stephen King and Joe Hill are represented) but head and shoulders above much of the detritus I get bombarded with by Amazon's suggestions.
One note: the cover of the book makes you think it's an all-out gut fest inside. It's not. Some of the stories are smart and cerebral. Others are cute and adorable in a grotesque way.
