The Children Who Sleep by the River
Set in modern times in a native village in Zimbabwe, Africa, this book is a fictional story intertwining the lives of four generations of women who live in the poorer portion of the culture.
Overall, I dislike this book, and I will probably never read it again if I can possibly help it. I appreciated the author's attempt at revealing the evils of how poverty stricken women are treated in Zimbabwe, and I loved the way the author uses incredibly expressive, vivid, and descriptive words; however, I would have appreciated the book more if it had been written by someone who actually grew up in that culture. Also, the last chapter of the book was a shocker and left me *very* unsatisified.
