Smoke and Mirrors Book

I would give this book a good 4 stars. This book was very interesting and I loved the mystery to it. The one thing I did not like although was how it ended. You read the entire book and then ending reveals nothing. In the end you don'd find out who Simon saw on the beach and you never find out whether Andrea/Trina ever remembers Simon. The book was ended like their was supposed to be a second book written. Although the ending was horrible, this book was a pretty good read. It was very interesting and it had you not wanting to put the book down because you wanted to hurry up and figure out where this mysterious Andrea had gone, and where this mysterious Ozzie had gone. This book is about a young kid who was born different because of his mother mistake of taking two different medicines at the same time. This boys name was Simon. Simon's mind worked differently then others. He was really smart and loved science and magic. Simon had a best friend names Ozzie that would do all these dangerous skate board tricks with him and would create newer and more extreme tricks for Simon to try out. One day, Ozzie wanted Simon to skateboard down a steep railing in front of a building. At first everything went smoothly and he was doing fine, but then something happened and he was thrown from the railing skateboard and all and he landed on his head, in the middle of the road, right in front of a big truck. Simon was in a coma for a while. the left hemisphere and the right hemisphere of his brain were separated and the doctors didn't have a way to fix him. Simon was loaded up with pills he refused to take. While Simon was in a coma, Ozzie and his family moved away to live somewhere on the beach, about a two hour drive from Simon. At least that's the story Simon's parents told him. Simon continues with his life of cutting out newspaper articles about aliens and strange happenings, school, and listening to his parents continually fight and have separate lives away from Simon. Simon goes to school and has this pretty girl, Andrea, appear next to him. Andrea was there to help Simon, or so he thought. The truth behind it was that Andrea was the one in need of help. Simon figures out through one of his newspaper articles that the girl that keeps to appear and disappear to him is a girl that overdosed on sleeping pills and is now in a coma. Simon also figures out the "Ozzie", his best friend that moved away, was actually a figment of his imagination. Ozzie was Simon's imaginary friend that disappeared when Simon lost some of his memory while he was in a coma. Simon finds out his best friend was never actually there and that the girls that keeps appearing to him is fading away in a hospital bed. Simon goes to find her at the hospital and sees the second Andrea again, the one that came to him, and he decides to unplug all the machines keeping her alive. He then falls to the ground and hits his head, wanting to die with her until he hears Andrea struggling to get the mask off her face. Andrea is awake from the coma. Andrea doesn't remember Simon but she is alive. Simon continues to try to get Andrea to remember him, but it all fails. Simon goes surfing on the beach with his dad and sees what sounds to be like Ozzie, runs to him and then the book ends.
