Children's Literature

Young frog lovers will enjoy reading and learning about frogs. The chapters cover general information about the frog's habitat, physical features, life cycle, and more. There are several color photographs of different frogs in a spectrum of colors. Look for the eye-catching set of the brilliant, colorful dart frogs but beware of these beauties. The different frogs are identified with labels. Look for the interesting snapshot of the Green Tree Frog using its tongue to catch its prey. Readers will find information about the difference between the frog and toad in a side by side comparison. There are some insets with definitions of a few words that are also in the glossary in the back of the book. On the lighter side are some frog riddles. Young readers may need some guidance navigating the informational text features but they are sure to enjoy the pictures of this amphibian. This book is part of the "National Geographic Science Readers" series. Reviewer: Carrie Hane Hung
