Lucky dog! Life is a romp in the park after Tucker rolls in clover in this gleeful new tale about a charmingly expressive pup.

When Tucker the terrier wakes up on Saint Patrick’s Day, he gets off on the wrong paw. Nothing is going his way until he rolls in a bed of clover —- a bed of four-leaf clovers, that is, which just happens to belong to a leprechaun! Lucky Tucker! From snatching a falling scoop of ice cream to wrestling with his best friends to getting a whole box of new toys, Tucker is now the luckiest dog around!

Children's Literature

Librarians tend to be fans of books that encourage pre-literacy or literacy skills and offer suggestions for getting children ready to read. The inside cover of this book contains a special note to parents and teachers that offers suggestions for "giving the children in your live a lasting love of reading." These suggestions include excellent ideas, such as visiting the library regularly and reading to your child every day. There is a surprising lack of repetition in a book intended for toddlers. While repetition is not a mandatory aspect of books for young readers, repeating words is a very effective method of encouraging literacy in a fun and potentially playful manner. Also, the print is small and that, along with the font choice, makes it difficult to share with an audience. Many of the pictures are also very small, so this book would definitely not make a good read aloud. The plot is engaging and the pictures, though tiny, are simple and clear, so this book would be best for one-on-one reading. This book is recommended for purchase for public libraries and school media centers that need to build their Holiday / St. Patrick's Day collection. Reviewer: Meagan Albright
