Jessie Willcox Smith illustrations -- old-fashioned, yes, out-dated, not ever in my opinion. They speak to othe universal realtionships of children and parents among other things. They accompany the old familiar verses perfectly in this volume just as they illustrated many of the books I read in my childhood andyouth. They are a part of my love for books.
