This conference, spon- sored by the Massachusetts Historical Society, Millersville University, and The Institute of Early American History and Culture, attempted to look at Puritan culture from the perspectives of both sides of the Atlantic and to com- pare and contrast the approach of American and English historians to the subject. Drawn from the papers given at the conference, this volume contains an introductory es- say by Francis Bremer and eleven articles which cover a wide range of topics. By delving into new source material and thoroughly analyzing the existing lit- erature, these articles combine to create a thought-pro- voking new consideration of the Puritan heritage |
