I Hate Goodbyes!
Children's book of poetry, each poem in Spanish and English, written from the perspective of the Nahuatl people of southern Mexico. Beautiful illustrations. The poetry spans the range of human emotion and addresses heavy topics such as racism and colonization, as well as joyful poems on the beauty of Mother Earth. My daughter laughed at the word play of the poem "Gourd Morning". Having grown up in the cornfields of Illinois myself, I appreciated the poem, "The Corn". There's a bit of the Nahuatl language included throughout which I also enjoyed.
