I loved this book for its realistic and sympathetic mood that has a reassuring message and multicultural appeal. As Jangmi leaves her hometown, you can feel as if you can feel the sadness she's feeling inside. As she leaves her best friend behind, Kisuni, you can sense the fear, the emptiness in her as she says goodbye to her. These are realistic, genuine feelings that kids often face when leaving their hometown and moving to a new place, nonetheless, a new country. Moving around is common to any families and it can be difficult especially for children. No matter where you move from: city to city, state to another country, a lot of children can definitely relate to this book. The illustration totally depicts the whole story that tells a realistic and culturally, heart-warming, acceptance story that many kids can definitely relate to. This is a great book when you want to touch on the immigration topic and it'll teach students to empathize and better understand situations that deals with immigrant students.
