Katy Did of KBUG Radio interviews Harry about a recent adventure and, in the process, finds out a lot about tarantulas.

Denise Daley - Children's Literature

This comical and informative book is in a question-and-answer format. It consists of Katy Did's interview with Harry Spyder. Katy Did works as a disc jockey at WBUG radio. Harry is a tarantula who has recently had a scary experience when he was scooped into an empty bottle by a little girl. The two insects are in a radio room sipping coffee as they chat on-air about how Harry defended himself. The reader will learn about the life of a tarantula as Harry explains how he responded to this tumultuous event. Harry also discusses the foods that he enjoys and how he finds a mate. The two main characters, a katydid and a tarantula, both have human facial expressions and characteristics. The story is delightful and the creative illustrations are very humorous. This is truly an inventive method for both entertaining and educating young readers. The book concludes with additional facts about the life of a tarantula. 2003, National Geographic,
