The Great Texas Hamster Drive
The book "The Great Texas Hamster Drive" by Eric A. Kimmel was the tale I picked, this book is a great tall tale for the kids, its very mid western era. The book was ironically funny in my opinion, she wanted a pet so bad and she ended up with way more than she wanted and expected.
To me children always want something new wether they want in for an hour or day or even months. They don't realize the time, effort, and attention things need. This book is a great lesson to some kids that what they want isn't always what they need.
The pictures were great and the theme was very well drawn out and kept to. I really like how mid western this was because kids these days don't really hear about it or see the mid western era as much as we use to. So its great that the illustrator did such a good job with the pictures and the author did a great job following the theme.
