Extremely interesting, and astonishingly brisk to read (it took me about 35 minutes or so). If this is getting at what I think it's getting at, Haley's navigating a razor-thin margin of error here - telegraphing genuine concerns with the increasingly-dehumanizing gaming culture of the internet while stopping just short of entering into "violent video games are why Columbine happened" alarmist foolishness.
I completely forget how this landed on my radar, but apparently Joel Schumacher directed this as an off-broadway play in 2015, so that might have been it? I seem to recall him giving a remarkably candid interview for, like, Vanity Fair or Esquire or something recently - maybe he mentioned it there?
At any rate, I'm reading more plays. But I'm also reading more of everything I guess, so that tracks.
