I would recommend this strongly for people who like history and want to learn more, not just about the Coronado expedition, but about the whole enterprise of the Spanish conquest. The book is written by one of the pre-eminent historians of the expedition, but in a way that makes it perfectly accessible to the general reader. Along the way, one learns about how conquistadorial expeditions were organized, funded, and manned, about how important was the participation of indigenous groups, women, and craftsmen, about just how wrong the popular image of the conquistadors as a band of white men in armor is.
