Wicked Harvest Book

**SOME MINOR SPOILERS**


I really think I loved this book. I truly did.

I had some issues with it, a couple standout ones and a few that were just minor annoyances, but overall, after having thought it over, I really did love this story.

First off, there is A LOT of sex in this book. Quite a bit, and it gets pretty heavy, pretty quick. But not once did it feel forced for the simple fact of having sex in a story. At least I didn't take it as such. Could it have had less sex and still work? Yeah, definitely. But, seriously, if it's gonna be an erotic book and YOU KNOW you're getting an erotic book and the scenes don't feel forced then we're good to go. And I really felt that here.

My biggest issue/gripe was the world. GAH. There is SO much potential in this book it kills me. It really does. Because I find the WHOLE thing fascinated. I want to know about all of it. I want to know the seasons, the cycles, these two suns, this planet, the caste system, the colors to signify family lineage, the political players, the climate, the mountains, the food, the political families, the handlers, the warriors, the paratanists, the Gods, the Havesters, the weapons--ALL OF IT. I wanted the author to delve more into this world she created because other than minor details, and only those pertaining to the couple (Chur and Enovese) it was all just left up to my imagination. Which is fine and dandy BUT when you throw a "Hail Mary" out there I'd like to know the basis. Which was what happened when, I'm gonna guess a God descended--it was honestly never said directly--to save the day I want to know that these Gods even existed first. Not to mention the fact that the main characters may or may not be Gods (demi-gods) themselves by the end. I want to believe, by your lexicon alone, that this sort of thing is possible. So maybe the main character could of did a ritual or a little praying early on in the book to "introduce" this element, instead of just throwing it out there in the end.

That all just brings me back to my main issue with the book--SO much left unknown about the planet and this world that these characters are living in.

And my biggest issue with the "unknown" elements in this world was the harvesting of the ovum. It's not like a "human" woman's mestural/ovulation cycle or fertility ablitly. This is later explained with fertility drugs and a female being in heat, which I'm led to assume would then be similar to an animals menstural/ovulation cycle. This leaves A LOT of room for questioning that ISN'T delved into enough, in my opinion. I'd like to have maybe set up for this line of questioning, like maybe talking about the female cycle of these characters from this land, to help us understand how, more than one ova would be able to be harvested when one isn't in "heat." I just had so many questions that I had to let lay and just go with it, as part of this world or explained away with "oh, but the pre-harvest ritual boosts fertility." Well what was fertility like BEFORE the ritual in this world? Walking into that explaination I honestly thought it was similar to humans, but then when all these eggs were harvested simply by "dropping" into a cylindar, it wasn't so similar anymore and I just had many questions about it. But like I said, if you overlook this and simply accept the answers given at face value it "works."

I've found out there there is another book and I'm excited to read that one, because I truly hope that it will expand on this world. And cover some of the questions I have, with SO much room to expand, I'm intrigued beyond reason!

That was my big issue with the story. My small ones dealt with little things like the uses of words that are never fully explained, but just hinted at. And these words were used in place of terms we would use for things such as harshman for towel (don't quote me on that, but it was something like that) then you've got another moment where a couch was called a couch. So the inconsistency in that bothered me a bit.

But that being said, I DID love this story. It had SUCH a fun plot. That you don't se coming, but makes perfect sense. It had mystery, betrayal, suspense, action. ANd the best part a TOTALLY believable romance. (I REALLY don't want to give this part away, but trust me the plot is TOTALLY worth it, even with the "Hail Mary" ending, it works and it makes sense!)

I bought it. You could REALLY feel Chur and Enovese fall for one another, more so Chur because he was the reluctant one, but you felt it. This wasn't love at first sight and it wasn't cheesy either. It was very real in the scope of the setting and I LOVED that about it. It was beautiful and the moment when Chur does realize that he does love her, I felt like I fell in love with her (Enovese) too!

And well this book IS a romance book. And it DOES NOT disappoint as such. The romance element was SO good. It really didn't feel contrived or flawed. I thought that Chur and Enovese were GREAT for each other, where one was ying the other was yang and their chemistry was heavy. And again, I can't stress enough HOW beautiful it was to FALL IN LOVE with them. That this wasn't love at first sight and the talked and learned and grew. I LOVED that Chur discussed his problems with Enovese and she gave him insight to things and he did the same for her. They were just perfect together and OH SO HOT too!

And Enovese. I LOVED her. She was such a great character. And my favorite thing about her is that I didn't start off loving her. I actually hated her. I thought it was a pretty f***d up thing to do to trick basically this guy into being with you forever or dying. I was like, "WTF?" She was one my bad list, right off the bat. But as the story progressed she grew as a character and I learned along with her the story of her life. And I grew to understand her motivations, even if I don't necessarily agree with them, I get it. And I REALLY liked that about the story. That the main character wasn't perfect and yet you still cheer for her. She made this story, she really did. She's strong, smart, and passionate and she ISN'T afraid of going after what she wants. I REALLY loved her!

And Chur, well, what's NOT to love about a strong, sexy, vexed warrior, right? That can't be just me!

Like I've said, I'm hoping the next one will delve more into this world and maybe have more interactions with other characters to help understand this world. Because my faith in this author's ability to weave a great plot is completely certain, so I'm ready for it!

I bought this on eBook because I wasn't too sure about it. Especially since I was warned it did have quite A LOT of sex. But I'm very much buy this book to put on a shelf. I LOVED it that much! I'd recommend it to pretty much anyone, I really would.
