Whispers In The Wind is the true story of the experiences of a World War One regiment of the American Expeditionary Forces. It follows the men from their first days in boot camp on Long Island through the horrors on the Western Front, to their return home. It is told from two very different perspectives; that of a foot soldier and that of one of the commanding officers. The foot soldier's account is based upon his original daily hand written diary, illustrations of which are contained within the book. The commanding officer's account is based upon his obscure published memoirs. The two versions are combined yet clearly discernible. Full margin regular typeset is used for the writings of the soldier. Reduced margin bold typeset for the writings of the captain. The italicized typeset is my writing. All references to people places and events have been researched and footnoted.
Author Biography: Douglas Reed Eisenstein was born in New York City, New York. He attended the University of Arizona and went to medical school in Missouri. He is a family practice physician in Tucson, Arizona where he resides with his wife Jennifer, an interior designer
