Visions of the Bereaved : Hallucination or Reality Book

3 stars out of 5 - I read a softbound copy from the library over the past few evenings. The author often got bogged down in details, and wrote in a clumsy fashion. Also, he was intent on dramatizing the affair as a race, but his best service was in quoting, generally deliciously, from the two women involved. It was a race, but the most fascinating aspect of it was the huge difference in outlook between the two women involved. Bisland, a lyrical if somewhat ponderous writer, was more interested in the lands and cultures through which she travelled, whereas Bly, although a hardnosed reporter always on the lookout for a juicy story, was engaged in a race she was determined to win.
