Twisty Little Passages: An Approach to Interactive Fiction
A well-researched book on a fascinating topic, "Twisty Little Passages" is still surprisingly leaden. I suspect the issue is organization. Telling the history of interactive gaming mainly as a historical development, with some academic overlay, obscures the reasons this form should be of more general interest. Organization by theme, or by problem/ controversy in the form, could have brought more life to the account.
