An excellent, short book which I would recommend to all new and not so new to caning. The only things I'd disagree with are I think no one should ever use garden centre bamboo sticks to hit people with, and also I don't think that canes should be used to hit palms. The author does say that both of those are dangerous but suggests that they could be done lightly and carefully. Personally I don't think it's worth the risk. She also suggests the use of nonoxynol-9 to clean canes. This would have been common advice at the time of the book's writing but is no longer recommended (see )
