Sorry to say after high expectations this was a severe disappointment to me. I have great memories of Roddy McMillan playing Daniel Pike in the BBC series.
The book was very dated (it was published in 1974) but that isn't any excuse when many great books were published before then.
In my humble opinion it was poorly written and that's all I can say for the two stars I gave it.
