The changing politics of gender equality in Britain Book

Jack: The Early Years of John F. Kennedy is a nonfiction chapter book that follows the upbringing of John F. Kennedy, the 35th President of the United States. Before JFK was the JFK that America so faithfully stood next to, he was a young boy called Jack who struggled behind his big brother Joe. The Kennedys had a successful family in the world of business and politics where heavy discussions were encouraged at the dinner table, high standards were expected, and family loyalty was essential. The book retells JFK’s childhood and his circumstance of feeling lost in his brother’s shadow but always being charming and gifted at forming friendships. After JFK graduated from Harvard and many heroic feats later he was sworn in as President of the United States on January 20, 1961, and the author follows his eloquent time in office up until his devastating assassination on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. The bibliography ends with the Kennedy’s lasting legacy and John first as a war hero and then as president. I greatly enjoyed this informational novel while it gave me a clear view of his life while keeping me engaged which makes me believe that it could be implemented into a higher level thinking classroom as a part of a history lesson.
