Biography

Marie Jirlande Fenelon is a native of Haiti. She migrated to the U.S. at the age of 17. She obtained her High School Diploma in 1986, from Jamaica High School. In 1990, she received her BA in French with a minor in Biology from St. John's University. In 1995, she received her masters Degree in TESOL from Hofstra. Ms. Fenelon also received a P.D. in Literacy Studies from Hofstra University in 2000. In 2004, she received her 2nd P.D. in School District Administration from Long Island University C.W. Post Campus. Ms. Fenelon is currently an ESL teacher at Westbury High School on Long Island, NY. She resides with her lovely family in Baldwin NY. She is preparing a book series for young children.


Jim Hoston was born in Freeport, Long Island and showed artistic talen as a youth. He is a graduate of SUNY at Farmingdale, Pratt Institute, and the New York Academy of Art respectively. He was an Andy Warhol scholarship recipient. A few of the noted professors that Jim studied with are Ted Schmidt, Walter Erlebacher, Xavier DeCallaty, and realist painter Jack Beal.

His painting "Universal Injustice" was featured in American Artist magazine for new emerging artist. He painted several comic covers and illustrated fro McElderry books, McGraw-Hill Publishing, Macmillan Publishing, Precedence Entertainment, Sony Music and more. Recently Jim was included in the Black Romantic Exhibition at the Studio Museum in Harlem and in September has a solo exhibition in Newton, MA.

Currently he is a full-time assistant professor at the Art Institute of Boston at Lesley University and maintains a studio with his wife in Brooklyn, NY.
