The Muslim Empires of the Ottomans
Unsurprisingly, Dale drasticaly underestimates the non-religious/philosophical contributions of the Safavids, and provides a very cursory account of Mughal decline that could do with a great deal of sharpening. A helpful starter work to those who don't have experience with these three empires, but often ensnared in its own cleverness.
